rebirth of a classic CA ar15a3
Well i got this as a box of scrap thinking it was a 2nd or 3rd gen dead ca m15 on getting it open i found a very poor 1st gen classic army m4a1

the box of bits ( gb was taken out and stripped before the pic was taken
my first task was to get it all out the box and see what was missing or broken , the gearbox was first and its the standard old ca black reinforced gb no cracks on the shell so that made me happy , got the gb open to find the piston was locked back with the spring under stress to my shock i found a systema metal piston and this was soon binned the picton rubber was a right off but other than this the steel gear's are all mint with little sign of use ! ? ( might have been replaced as some point )
after playing with the gb i moved over to the body and this was very poor dustcover was rusted and it had been painted in a gloss type paint
the stock tube and barrel was the same , so i set about getting all the paint off the lower and stock tube and barrel
i used a acid based paint remover to speed the job up a little the paint was soon removed from the lower and stock tube

the barrel had a quick wipe and the gloss paint was removed leaving the first ca finish behind ! very clean barrel

just a quick mock up
i have paid for a full 3rd gen ca cqb ris front set and out of the 6-7 sets of handguards didnt fit
